This rug is 30 years old, from the Yağcıbedir region of a turkey, made from 100% wool, vegetable dyed and hand woven using the double knot technique. This technique is time consuming but increases the life and durability of the rugs immensely! These rugs generally take at least 4 months- 1 year of full time work to complete but they can last 100s of years if properly cared for! This one is flawless, no unravelling, worn spots or bleeding. 
 According to Scientists this kind of art started 3000 yeas ago in Yagcibedir, Which is the area this rug was made in. Mostly young girls make these types of rugs for their dowry chest. These girls were using their imaginations and feelings to make those patterns. All the rugs made in that area have a story to tell about the surroundings. This art passed by mothers to daughters, which makes us lucky to still have this type of art in present days.
